How to Create and Save Your My Garage Profile

How to Create and Save Your My Garage Profile

Your Garage is the permanent home for every car you own, past or present, plus its service history and photos.

Community Interaction and UGC Region: Global Updated July 2026 By the True Motion Auto editorial team
Quick answer

My Garage is a free profile feature where you add each vehicle you own by year/make/model/trim, then optionally attach mileage, service logs, modifications, and photos. You can list unlimited vehicles, mark one as your primary/current car for your public profile, and keep past vehicles archived rather than deleted so your ownership and review history stays attached to your account.

What My Garage is for

My Garage centralizes everything tied to a car you own: it's the record the Wishlist, Ask a Mechanic, review submissions, and badge system all check against. Adding your actual vehicle here is what unlocks the Verified Owner badge and model-specific Q&A access for that vehicle.

Step by step: setting up your Garage

  1. From your account menu, select "My Garage" then "Add a vehicle."
  2. Enter year, make, model, and trim — the system pulls in standard spec data automatically.
  3. Optionally add VIN (used only for ownership verification, never shown publicly), purchase date, and current mileage.
  4. Upload photos if you want the vehicle to appear in the public Photo Showcase or Car of the Month.
  5. Choose visibility: Private (only you), Friends (mutual follows), or Public (shown on your profile).

Verification and what it unlocks

Adding a vehicle to your Garage alone doesn't verify ownership. To get the Verified Owner badge for that car, you separately upload one proof document (registration, insurance card, or purchase agreement, with sensitive fields like VIN or price redacted by you before upload). Verification is manually checked, typically within 2-3 business days.

Managing multiple or past vehicles

There's no limit on how many vehicles you can log, current or past. When you sell or trade a car, use "Archive" rather than delete — archived vehicles keep their service history and any reviews you wrote while you owned it, they just move out of your "current vehicles" section.

Watch out

Deleting a vehicle (as opposed to archiving it) is permanent and also removes any reviews or Q&A posts tied specifically to that Garage entry. Archive instead if you want to keep your history.

Privacy defaults

Every new Garage entry defaults to Private. Mileage, service logs, and cost data are never shown publicly regardless of your visibility setting for the vehicle itself — those fields require a separate, explicit opt-in per field if you want them to appear on a public Owner Cost Log or Long-Term Test Diary.
