Rivian built the adventure-EV category: the R1T pickup and R1S SUV pair supercar acceleration with genuine off-road hardware and the industry's most likeable software personality. Gen 2 brought in-house motors and zonal electronics; native Tesla-charging access arrived for 2026; and the make-or-break R2 targets the $45k volume market the brand needs to reach profitability. Service coverage and depreciation remain young-brand realities, and adventure trims tax range. Nothing else electric feels as purpose-built for the trailhead.
