Why a weekly, low-effort format
Big contests (like the seasonal bracket or leaderboard) reward sustained effort, but most visitors won't write a full review or chase leaderboard points. The weekly challenge exists to give casual readers a 30-second reason to participate — answer a quick question, drop a photo, or vote in a simple poll — so the community habit doesn't depend on high-effort contribution.

Streaks and light gamification
Participants who submit 4 weeks in a row earn a small "Regular" streak badge on their profile, and 12 weeks in a row earns a "Dedicated" badge. Missing a week resets the streak — this is intentionally simple, with no points economy layered on top, so it stays approachable for people who don't care about the leaderboard system.
All submissions go through the same moderation queue as reviews and comments before appearing publicly; there is no exception for challenge entries.
