Editorial Independence Statement

How our reviews and rankings stay separate from advertising, affiliate revenue, and dealer relationships.

Trust & Transparency Region: Global Updated July 2026 By the True Motion Auto editorial team
Quick answer

True Motion Auto earns revenue through advertising and affiliate partnerships, but that revenue plays no role in what we cover, how we score it, or what we recommend. Editorial decisions sit with the editorial team alone; the commercial team has no input into review scores, rankings, or article conclusions.

How we make money, and why it's separate

Like most independent publishers, True Motion Auto is funded by advertising, affiliate commissions on some links, and occasional sponsored content that is always labelled as such. None of these revenue streams give a manufacturer, dealer or lender influence over editorial coverage.

The separation in practice

  • The commercial team does not see or approve review scores, rankings, or article conclusions before publication
  • Advertising a brand does not guarantee coverage, a positive review, or a higher ranking position
  • Affiliate commission rates have no bearing on which products or vehicles are recommended first
  • Sponsored or paid content is clearly labelled as "Sponsored" or "Partner content" and is kept visually and editorially distinct from independent journalism

Some links to retailers, lenders or insurance providers earn True Motion Auto a commission if a reader completes a purchase or application. This does not change the price the reader pays, and it does not change which option is recommended — our Comparison and Ranking Methodology explains the criteria used, and commercial relationships are not one of them.

Manufacturer relationships

Loaned vehicles don't buy coverage

We sometimes test manufacturer-loaned vehicles, as most automotive publishers do — it's disclosed on the relevant article under our Author Guidelines. A loaned test car does not guarantee a favourable review, and we have published critical reviews of loaned vehicles.

If you think independence has been compromised

If any article looks like it favours an advertiser over the facts, tell us using the contact link on the page or our Corrections Policy. We treat suspected breaches of editorial independence as a serious issue and investigate them directly.
