Car Trivia Night is a live, scheduled community event held roughly once a month, running 45-60 minutes across 5 rounds of 8 questions each, covering history, specs, motorsport, and pop-culture car trivia. Unlike the always-available quizzes, it's synchronous — everyone answers the same question within the same short window (typically 20 seconds) — and results count toward that month's Quiz Champ Leaderboard cycle plus a standalone Trivia Night badge for repeat attendance.

Why a live format alongside the always-on quizzes
The EV Knowledge Quiz and Guess the Car Quiz are available any time, which is great for solo, self-paced play, but it doesn't recreate the social energy of everyone answering the same question at the same moment. Trivia Night is our answer to that — a scheduled, synchronous event where the community shows up together, sees live rankings update round by round, and can chat between rounds.
Round structure
- Round 1 — Warm-up: broad, easy questions to get everyone active
- Round 2 — History: manufacturers, milestones, discontinued brands
- Round 3 — Specs & tech: engineering trivia, from horsepower records to safety tech firsts
- Round 4 — Motorsport: racing history, iconic races, driver trivia
- Round 5 — Pop culture & speed round: movie cars, culture references, faster-paced bonus questions worth double points
Scoring during a live session
Each question is worth 1-3 points based on difficulty, same as our other quizzes, plus a speed component since the 20-second window rewards fast, confident answers over hesitant ones. Round 5's bonus questions are worth double, which keeps the standings competitive right to the end rather than settled by round 3.
| Round | Focus | Points available |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Warm-up | 8-16 |
| 2 | History | 8-24 |
| 3 | Specs & tech | 8-24 |
| 4 | Motorsport | 8-24 |
| 5 | Pop culture (double points) | 16-48 |
How to join and what you need
Sessions are announced at least a week in advance on the community calendar and via the newsletter; no special software is required beyond a signed-in account and a stable connection, since questions and timers run in-browser. Missing a live session doesn't lock you out of anything else — quizzes and the leaderboard remain available as usual.
A recap and full leaderboard from each session is posted afterward for anyone who couldn't attend live, though only live participants earn points and the attendance badge for that session.
The attendance badge
Attending three separate Trivia Night sessions (they don't need to be consecutive) unlocks a standalone Trivia Night badge on your profile, separate from Garage Guru and quiz-based recognition — it specifically marks up regular participation in the live community event.
