Mahindra opened 2026 with an unusual move: facelifting its flagship three-row SUV and renaming it in the process. What the 7XO changes
Outside: revised LED headlamps framed by boomerang-shaped DRLs, a new grille, and refreshed tail-lamps with hexagonal detailing — enough to make the facelift legible at a glance without altering the silhouette.
Inside, the bigger story: a three-screen cabin — digital driver's display, central infotainment and a dedicated front-passenger screen, each 12.3 inches — plus a new upholstery colour scheme. The triple-screen layout leapfrogs the segment's typical twin-display arrangement and gives the 7XO its showroom wow-moment.
The engine line-up continues the XUV700's proven turbo-petrol and diesel options — the facelift's investment went into design and cabin technology rather than the oily bits.
Reading the price
₹13.66 lakh for a facelifted flagship looks impossible until the fine print: it is an introductory price for the first 40,000 units, on the entry variant. Mahindra has used this playbook repeatedly — the launch price builds the queue, then normalises upward. Buyers targeting the value story should move early and aim low in the range; buyers wanting the triple-screen experience will be shopping the upper half, where pricing is conventional for the class.
The honest assessment
The XUV700 was already the segment's value benchmark; the 7XO update protects that position with a sharper face and a cabin that out-screens everything near its price. The rename is cosmetic strategy — but the product logic underneath is sound: keep the mechanicals that built the reputation, spend where showrooms are won.
The watch-items are familiar Mahindra ones: early-batch build consistency on the new cabin hardware, and the gap between introductory and settled pricing.
