Vehicle Overview

The Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s mid-size electric SUV: a five-door crossover sold in the UK with rear- or all-wheel drive and three battery sizes. The current MY25 line-up runs from the Select SR RWD, on a 72.6kWh usable battery, to the 358kW GT, and official WLTP ranges span 292 to 382 miles depending on battery and driveline — figures listed by EV Database (retrieved 1 October 2026) and matched by the specification table in Auto Express’s 15 June 2026 review. Every UK car rapid-charges on CCS at up to 150kW and carries an 11kW AC onboard charger, and Ford offers its BlueCruise hands-free motorway system on the model. Euro NCAP tested the Mach-E in 2021 and awarded five stars.

Ford BlueCruise hands-free motorway driving is offered on the Mustang Mach-E. Ford says its approved Blue Zones cover more than 95% of Great Britain’s motorways and that the system operates up to 80mph; Ford’s 13 April 2023 European announcement made it the first hands-off, eyes-on system approved for use in Great Britain, with the first 90 days included and a £17.99 monthly subscription after that.

What it costs in the UK

EV Database listed UK on-the-road prices of £50,840 for the Select SR RWD, £59,390 for the Premium ER RWD, £65,415 for the Premium AWD and £74,550 for the GT when we checked on 1 October 2026, with the Rally at £76,800. Auto Express’s 15 June 2026 review gave a published RRP span of £51,420 to £75,130. Ford’s own UK Mustang Mach-E page, checked the same day, quoted £42,340 recommended on-the-road for the Select RWD — well under both — so Ford’s current promotional position matters as much as the list price. Get the on-the-road total for your exact build in writing from a franchised dealer.

No version qualifies for the Electric Car Grant: GOV.UK caps eligibility at a £37,000 recommended retail price, and the cheapest Mach-E is listed above it. Depending on the list price of the car you order, the Mach-E can also fall above the £50,000 threshold at which electric cars registered from 1 April 2025 pay the £440-a-year expensive-car VED supplement for five licences. On price the obvious comparisons are the Tesla Model Y, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Volkswagen ID.5.

How it compares in the UK

Range and price here are both taken from EV Database on 1 October 2026 so the basis is the same across the four cars: its own real-world estimate rather than the WLTP figure, and the on-the-road price it lists. Those prices do not all sit in the same discount or grant position — the Ioniq 5 and ID.5 are under the £37,000 Electric Car Grant cap in some specifications and the Mach-E is not — so check each model’s own configurator before reading the gaps as like-for-like.

A credible long-range electric crossover for UK buyers, strongest in rear-drive Extended Range form, held back by a rapid-charging peak its rivals have moved past.

Final Verdict

For UK buyers the Mustang Mach-E makes most sense as the Premium ER RWD: its 88kWh battery returns the line-up’s longest WLTP figure, 382 miles, at £59,390 — less than either all-wheel-drive car and with more range than both. The GT is genuinely quick at 3.8 seconds to 62mph, but it costs £74,550 and gives up 62 miles of WLTP range to do it. The caveat applies to the whole range: EV Database lists the Mach-E’s rapid-charging peak at 150kW against 250kW for the Tesla Model Y, so if you regularly cover long motorway distances, work out what those extra minutes per stop are worth to you before ordering.
